Bob LeVitus, often referred to as “Dr. Mac,” is a leading authority on the Macintosh, macOS, iOS, and other Apple products including iPads and iPhones. One of the Apple community’s most trusted gurus for over three decades, Bob is known for his trademark humorous style and unerring ability to translate “techie” jargon into usable and fun advice for regular folks.

A prolific author, LeVitus has written or co-written nearly 90 popular computer books, with millions of copies sold worldwide in more than a dozen languages. Recent titles include: iPhone For Dummies 13th Edition, and macOS Catalina For Dummiesfor Wiley Publishing.

And, Bob has been the Apple technology columnist for the Houston Chronicle, penning the popular Dr. Mac column weekly for more than 25 years. He’s also been The Mac Observer’s Dr. Mac’s Rants & Raves columnist since 2003. 

Another of Bob’s loves is teaching and he was a popular instructor for the University of Texas Informal Classes program for more than a decade, offering courses such as, iPhone for Smart PeopleMaster Your MacHow to Win at Texas Hold ‘Em, Making Movies with iMovie, and Producing Audio with GarageBand.

Always a popular speaker at Mac user groups and trade shows, Bob has presented more than 200 seminars, workshops, conferences, and training sessions in the U.S. and abroad, including Macworld Expo keynote addresses in three countries, live presentations at countless Apple Stores, and four Geek Cruises. He also won the Macworld Expo MacJeopardy World Championship three times before retiring his crown. 

Prior to giving in to his obsession with Apple technology, Bob worked in advertising in Los Angeles, producing TV commercials, radio spots, and print ads for Kresser & Robbins. He holds a B.S. in Marketing from California State University and lives in central Texas with his beautiful wife, Lisa, and Zeke the Vizsla dog, with occasional visits from now adult children, Allison and Jacob.
